Latest developments in the field of Computer Literacy

Computers have been in existence since time-immemorial, whether it be the ancient time’s abacus or the modern day PS5, computers have played a significant part in mankind’s history. For a tool that is so closely knitted to our lives, a level of literacy is required.

The definition of Computer literacy would be the knowledge and ability to use computers and existing technologies, and to apply them efficiently. The skills can range from basic usage to computer programming and advanced problem solving.

Education with regard to the same has been imparted for a long time, but with the changing times, certain trends have emerged.

Mobility over Stability -

Gone are the days when a computer used to be carried around in a truck, now you can carry one in your school bag. With the onset of laptops and smartphones, easy access from anywhere has trumped over bulky systems. It leads us to conclude that wireless technology and it’s usage demands the most attention.

Digital Citizenship -

Being a good digital citizen, or a netizen means understanding and applying appropriate and use of the internet and technology, while being responsibles. Two issues top the list when it comes to digital citizenship are: plagiarism and cyberbullying. We are aware of the fact that you can get all the programming assignment help needed with a single click, but that doesn’t mean that you’ll copy-paste the entire work. Similarly, bullying is never acceptable even if it is virtual.

Narrowing the Digital Divide -

The rural population needs to be as well aware of the digital world as the urban gentry. Online scams, phishing and data theft aren’t bound by location and neither should literacy. This issue can be easily addressed with a bit of programming help from the tech savvy professionals.

Expanding Scope of the Digital World -

The opportunities in the digital arena are endless, but one needs to be taught how they can reap it’s fruits. To illustrate, there is more to Social Networking sites than just posting selfies, with the right guidance one can help the society, get a job, or grow their business.

Teaching the Teachers -

With the onset of Covid, online classes became the saviour of the students. What we did was that teachers of the veteran generation needed to get accustomed to the latest technology to keep up with the times in hand. With this point, the author wants to highlight that being an elder shouldn’t stop you from learning more about computers.

To sum it all

Computer skills have now become borderline life-skills and they can’t be ignored anymore. The internet revolution has seen a lot of growth but at the same time been witness to a load of cyber crimes. In times like these, cyber prowess has become a necessity and one must not shy away from learning the same. Computer literacy is needed for both personal security and growth.
